A Really, Really Late Birthday Gift

My one and only stranger, Mr Nik Ahmad bought this exquisite pair of True Religion Brand Jeans from Saks Fifth Avenue in New York earlier this year as a present for my birthday while he was there. Since I was so tied up with studies, exams and lots of me-time and he was barely here globetrotting as an air steward, we only managed to catch up few days ago in Bukit Bintang. To be honest, I've completely forgotten that he had bought me birthday present and had no clue he would bring it when we had our rendezvous in Pavilion. Correct me if I'm wrong but as a follower of True Religion (thanks to my hommie, Abg Ayi), this pair - named 'Billy' - is not available in Bread & Butter (the store carrying the line) both in Pavilion and Gardens Mid Valley. Roughly, this pair would be somewhere around RM1000 - RM1200 per pair. Thanks, my Stranger. Now (at last!), not only I have True Religion jeans, but the one bought in Saks Fifth Avenue. Times like this remind me how fortunate I

Pete Wentz Would Be So Eff-ing Jealous of Me

Puma Stepper Breakpoint sneakers in Olympian Blue I've finally come to my senses that a good, hot pair of shoes turn me on the most (Yes, Farra, only recently I realized that). Even my good buddy Kem Salleh used say I could make out with anyone and get high while doing it in a closet full of shoes and sneakers. Way to go, huh? So, there's this one shop in Gardens Mid Valley selling hot sneakers which I've frequented over and over again but never bought anything. It sells high end sneakers from labels like Vans, Adidas, Nike, Lacoste Sports and Tiger Onitsuka which you could never find in any other places (or at least, that's in my case). The price starts roughly around RM300 and up to RM600-RM700 for gorgeous, gorgeous sneakers, like the one pair of high-cut Nike in patent leather. Orgasmic. But the other day, another pair caught my attention. A neon-bright blue sneakers from Puma which was simply breathtaking. "Hello, hello," I said to it. Of couse, it didn&#

'To Learn How to Live, You Must First Learn How to Die'

I've bought and read the book, Tuesdays With Morrie for at least 3 times and still, each time I learned new things from this wonderfully-written book. Recently I found out that it has a movie version made by Oprah Winfrey back in 1999, which did not disappoint any less. It is about the author, Mitch Albom who discovered his college professor sufferred from a terminal disease called ALS or simply the Lou Gehrig's Disease, which collapses the body organ and system one by one starting with the lower limbs and finally the lungs. He spent the final days of his professor by visiting the latter on Tuesdays, taking a 700 miles trip each week from Detroit to Chicago and learned new things about life. As Oprah said, to be a best-seller for more than two years, a story has got to have a connection to the people reading it. And damn she was right. The story of Mitch Albom and his Professor Morrie Shwartz was so simple yet it struck you as if you knew the characters personally. Each page sp

Happy Mother's Day, Mama

Last Eid ul Fitr 1429H I still remember clearly the times when I got back from school, after a day of examinations, my mom would ask me, “How was it?” Some papers are tough and I have to admit that there have been times when I felt like I wouldn’t make it so I always replied, “It was tough. Not sure if I will pass.” It wasn’t out of modesty, it was a sincere shout-out, direct from my heart and out of fear of failing and not making it. She would always reply, “If you found it hard, then others must found it hard as well. So you’re not the only one and stop feeling bad about yourself.” That simple answer became a major enlightenment for me and took away my every fear and anxiousness. I became soothed by her reply and how calm she reacted whenever I told her of one of those bad days at school. And now, at 22 years old, nothing much had changed. Whenever somebody or an examination paper pissed me off and I felt like I have to break down, I reached out to her and though the reply h

Before 30!

Do you want to know what it tastes like to be in your final year of the ’20-29 years’ box, before moving into a new box next year? It tastes like Lahmacun pizza, Karisik Izgara mix grill and Coban Salata salad. At least that was in our case. All ten of us gathered on one Sunday noon for lunch cum birthday celebration at Bosphorus, Pavilion to honor and celebrate Ayi’s 29 th birthday. The lunch courses of the day were of Turkish cuisine and guests happily obliged to the ‘Sunday Chic’ dress code (which I playfully put, hehe). Bought the cake 5 minutes before the lunch. Quickie. Birthday boy, or should I say, man. The sexiest I could ever get while waiting for others. Fifi and Nadrah Sakina and Hana Fa and the comel Firah "BlackBerry kami calar-balar," kata Firah dan Kye. Only after 3 courses, Megat shown his face and Fa was clearly ready for a nap. Happy 29th birthday, Mr Khairi! Much thanks to Hana and Nadrah, Firah, Fifi, Fa, Sakina, Faris and Megati
