Beri Hitam yang Berani

a.k.a BlackBerry Bold I full-heartedly gave Farra the credit for the silly translation because she was the one who coined it. I wasn't sure about this post but she insisted that I do it so here it is. I read somewhere that an average man would use their mobile phones for a year-and-half before changing/upgrading it. I guess that applies to me too because in about that period, my phone would either be stolen, broken or simply be replaced when opportunities came along (i.e. whenever some generous person gave one to me). That was true for my previous 4-5 phones. Until recently. Remember my Storm? Baptiste McStormy? Well, that didn't go too well. I have to admit, being one of the latest brainchild of RIM, the Storm was quite good in some areas. Its camera, video camera and graphic interface are superb. Those are its turf - Storm wins hands down with that. But for someone like me, who's not used to touchscreen phones, it was quite a nuisance though I hate to admit so because for...

Baptiste McStormy

So this is Boboy's replacement. Meet Baptiste McStormy ( pronounced as 'Bap-Tee') , a new addition to my family. He's a BlackBerry Storm 9500, a touchscreen smartphone with only four real button - call, end call, menu and back buttons. To Firah, I'm sorry I had break our pact of no-touchscreen-phones! I still haven't got over Boboy but I really need to reconnect to the world. So, I reached out to my sister who's (surprisingly) sorry for my loss and provide me with an adequate stimulus package a.k.a loan, to buy a new one. How I hate the idea of being indebted to anyone, financially or not. I don't believe in downgrade. I only believe in upgrade. The only times you need to downgrade are when you are being polite to others and when you're praying to God - that's when you have to be submissive. Other times, uh-oh, you only have to go up, up and up. Broke or not. So, I better upgrade myself then. Bold is too expensive and totally out of the budget an...

Boboy the BlackBerry (2007-2009)

In Madam Kwan KLCC circa October 2008 I still remember clearly that evening. Tired and wasted, long train ride back home from Subang Jaya. Ayi accompanied me. Despite all, I wasn't even complaining with a new phone on the palm of my hand - a BlackBerry Curve I named Boboy. It was pure joy. That's one of the perks being neither rich nor coming from a wealthy family - I learned to work hard to get things in my way and when I did, it really paid off. This wasn't just a 'thing' - it was a momento of a dream come true for a 20-year-old boy, a hard work paid off and a passion realized even when people around me were going like 'BlackBerry what?' at that time. It has become like a midget friend, a companion to class, to leisure and everywhere else in between. A gadget that also acted as an instant accessory the moment I flipped it out of my pocket. Boboy was loved beyond comparison and he deserved too after much desiring and wanting. It was a single slip of fate la...

Buka Puasa @ Charm, The Curve

When: September 23, 2008 Who: Khairizan, Faris, Sakina, Hana, Zafirah, Didi, Ali Azri, Firdaus et al. After much delays and postpones, at last, an ifthar between our closest cliques in the faculty finally made it with all the fabulousness and craziness. Oh, minus Ali and Firdaus, whom were not members of same the faculty as the rest of us - they were just 'companions' of Didi and Hana respectively. The food in Charm was nice. It was mainly Vietnamese cuisine with a touch of Thai's. Charm - very charming Clockwise from top left: Zafirah, Didi, Hana, Kye and Faris...oh, and my BlackBerry! The Khairolfaris and the Khairizan Happy bunch! Sakina, Faris and I. My meal for the day - mushroom chicken rice. Nicely, but not exquisitely, done. Sakina with her mee-hoon soup ala Vietnamese. She said it was good. Hana checkin' on the menu while Zafirah checkin' on her 8-megapixel cam. Mine is 12-megapixel (hehe don't hate me Zaf) Tyra would be so proud of ya, girl! Hana's...

The Day My Life Becomes Black

I got a BlackBerry! A BlackBerry Curve 8300! The day was May 26, 2008 which was Tuesday when I welcomed another member in my family - BoyBoy (the name I gave to the BlackBerry). BoyBoy joined alongside Hayden (my mechanical pencil) and Hayden Jr. (my 4Gb thumbdrive). Haa..what a beautiful day, it was! Unexpectedly! The reason BoyBoy was bought was beacuse my long-time companion, Motorola A780 was ailing and no shop was willing to accept it for repair, due to its hard-to-find spareparts. Well, that was the thing when you lived in a country that only called 'Nokias' and 'Sony Ericssons' as cell phones. Anyhow, I'm so far beyond delighted for BoyBoy's presence because a BlackBerry is the ultimate gadget that I was so eager to get, from all the sparks and hoo-haas it made across the globe, and on Gossip Girl. I'm contented, blessed, thankful and couldn't think of other things that I wanted to have, as much as I wanted a BlackBerry. I'm done on this part ...
