What the Eff is This?

Just when you thought Malaysian royalties/elites couldn't get any more douche/stupid/vain/all of the above, here's one to put the light on your head. I was religiously going through my daily need of celebrity news on PerezHilton.com when I encountered this . A mysterious Malaysian has reportedly thrown a small (in size, not the expenditure) party for Lindsay Lohan 23rd birthday party at the Angel Ball in 10ak, New York. Okay, there are some fucked up mess in this story: 1. It's not even Lindsay Lohan's birthday. Her birthday was on July 2. 2. Why would you throw a party for a celeb-retard like Lindsay Lohan? Above all, the guests were entertained with 23 bottles of Cristal Champagne and another 23 bottles of the same label afterwards. In case you don't watch E! Channel, Cristal Champagne is one of the most expensive ones out there, ranging from $300 to $500 per bottle. Gasp. And that same Malaysian was bidding $100,000 on a pair of Lorraine Schwartz earrings (yes, t...

Another Gem Lost

Yasmin Ahmad (July 1, 1958 - July 24, 2009) This is truly a devastating news. I've been a true, true admirer of this lady's works since I watched her first movie movie, Rabun. Up to Sepet, Gubra, Mukhsin, Muallaf and Talentime. Not counting the numerous television commercials she did which, like her movies, touched and moved Malaysians and others. And now she's gone. A truly, truly inspirational artiste. A person full of charisma and wits yet very down to earth, humble, joyful and always remind us how small she stood in comparison with the Mighty One despite numerous successes she have had. I'm way too devastated to write more about this. But this is the least tribute I could do to a person I highly admired, the late Yasmin Ahmad. Al-Fatihah.

Anugerah Industri Muzik Ke-16 2009

I went to last year’s AIM 15 because of the free tickets courtesy of fellow housemate, Jet (thanks, Jet!). It was surprisingly good and unexpectedly I had a great time there, though I had no clue who was nominated beforehand except Siti Nurhaliza (she was nominated every year for the past one decade, anyway). Thus, I certainly looked forward to going this year’s AIM 16. God certainly has a strange way of reaching you. Perhaps, it was indeed the power of attraction – when you wanted something so bad, you exuded a pulling force onto it toward you. Anyway, 3 days before the event, my good, wacky friend Aen called and asked if I would like two VIP passes to the awards ceremony. Of course, my reply would be affirmative. So, decked in skinny jeans and my most comfortable color – black, off I went to AIM with my plus one. And boy, it was even better than last year’s though it was one notch down in terms of its scale and grandeur. Blame the recession, perhaps. What made it so spe...

Starstruck

Today, Dec 19 2008, I decided to have some private me-time around the city. Decked in my black basic D&G tee, checkered shorts from Guess? (my favorite silly shorts) and flip-flops from Camel Active, I head to the Upper Mid Side of Kuala Lumpur a.k.a Bukit Bintang. I made a stop in Etro, chatting away with Eyrja before knowing that my friend canceled our supposed-high-tea together. Dayum. Like heaven-sent, Nik, my favorite stranger called asking if I was in Etro and decided to hang out with me for a while since he was already there in Pavilion. We hang around for a while before he decided to ask his two other 'friends' to tag along. It turned out, by friends, he meant Anuar Zain and his sister, Ziana Zain. Shitmotherfuckerfuckshit. I was starstruck for 2 minutes. Since there were two of them, so I was officially starstruck for 4 minutes. Ha, mathematics! Four of us went window shopping in Gucci and Prada, checking out stuff while chit-chatting in between and I had to contro...

M Housewarming & Fashion Show

Dream came true - Dato' Farah and I Being a loyal Melium member, we were invited by Melium Group to attend the launching of M Men and M Women stores in Gardens, Mid Valley on the 26th of November. Appropriately themed 'Absolutely Fabulous', guests were the creme-de-la-creme of the society with many distinguished people thronging the party area, enclosed by Melium boutiques such as Boss Hugo Boss, Alain Figaret and M Stores. A lost guest with a glass of orange juice. Just orange juice okay? Abg Ayi in non-Melium outfit. Hehe The fashion show kicked off with 15 Malaysian 'celebrities' (some of them are royalties and were considered celebrities too. Since when royaties became ones?), starting with Ning Baizura donning a cocktail dress from Custo Barcelona, followed by Chef Wan in Rock & Republic jeans, Elaine Daly in Hale Bob dress and many more. Other celebrities include Johnathan Putra aka JP (model-turned-Channel V VJ-turned model again) donning Just Cavalli...
