A Weekend of Work

My sister is kooky with business. She did more than what she could do and when she signed up for the Summit USJ Flea Market last weekend, she immediately asked me to look after her booth for the whole weekend a.k.a sit around for 9 hours and arguing with relentlessly persistent Ah Sohs bargaining for ridiculous price. Since I already had some experience working with my brother in Jusco Ipoh somewhat years ago, I nodded my head in agreement to my sister’s request. Why not, I guessed. Tutorials haven’t started yet and this is the only time I’ll be available for extra commitments like this. So, for Saturday and Sunday, I managed to fit in as one of those zealous businessperson, selling cute soft toys and some bling accessories. Though Saturday was rather slow, Sunday was much more appealing with better response due to change of booth. Even this blog post was written as I am sitting around, while Ayi entertained customers. Overall, the response was quite impressive. We definitely m...

Perfume Warehouse Sale

I’m a big fan of good warehouse sales. By ‘good’, I mean the organizers are reliable, the items on sale are of good condition and original and the price is low enough to be deemed as ‘warehouse sale’. Perfume warehouse sale don’t come regularly. Even if they were any, I would either be (i) broke or (ii) occupied with other commitments and had to pass it. The last one that I went to was about 2 years ago in Dataran Hamodal, Petaling Jaya where I got various eau de toilette and perfume sets for low prices such as Lanvin Oxygene 100ml (RM49), Celine Pour Homme 50ml EDT & body wash set (RM30), Calvin Klein Truth 50ml (RM80), Carolina Herrera 212 Sexy 100ml EDT & body wash set (RM59) and Kenneth Cole RSVP 100ml (RM69). This time around, they had it in Corus Hotel, Jalan Ampang from 8 to 11 July 2009 and I managed to go on the second day with initial aim of grabbing a few boxes to be given as future presents to my friends birthday (now you know what you’ll get, guys). Ho...

Being Silly

So this is me on last Thursday night, after getting giddy of reading some notes on Econometrics - the first ever notes I read for my third year. Woohoo! I decided, if I wanted to be silly, why not put it on camera and let everyone in the whole wide world see how silly I am whenever I am alone. Because that's what we all do, right? (NOT) I put on the camera and sing Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore ( this song ) by Celine Dion, my favourite song at the moment. Ignore my singing if you find it offensive *giggles*. In this video you'll see: 1. How gigantic my teeth and ears are 2. The plate which I had some nuggets earlier is still left unattended 3. I memorized all the words to the song (No kidding. Yeah, seriously) 4. My room mate is fast asleep at the back 5. I'm shrieking away while my roommate is fast asleep at the back (Refer to No.4) Go ahead and torture yourself by listening and watching.

Ushering The Third Year

There's absolutely nothing like an energy booster than a good shopping. Well, at least that was in my case. Couple of weekends back, I thought I needed something to mark my third year as a Bachelor of Economics student. Tops were too common, shoes - I already have a lot for the time being, jeans - too many yet worn too few. That was when I thought, BAGS! I need a new bag! I already have a backpack and four messenger bags. It was a high time for a new tote, I supposed. The one that could carry everything and wouldn't look bloated. Then I saw this one ck Calvin Klein tote in Gardens Mid Valley. It's made of thick see-through dark grey plastic with matching black leather trimmings and handles. Sort of like Louis Vuitton's Neverfull bag where you can just throw anything inside it and carry them around without looking like you're carrying your entire household with you. Though the new semester has started yesterday, I'll keep this one at home just yet until the secon...

A Semester Break Read

I spent the last couple of days reading Barbara Walters’ memoir, Audition – a 400-page thick book about this respected journalist whom I greatly admired. Released in June last year, I found her self-written memoir a very good read, a rare adjective for memoir/autobiographies which could be dreadfully boring most of the time. Though her memoir lacked of fancy words and redundancy in story-telling, it was a very entertaining and inspiring read and as if listening her talking to an old friend and she had no trouble name-dropping those involved in the matter she talked. I didn’t grow up watching Barbara Walters on her ‘Today’ show on NBC while she was still in the network prior 1974. I knew her from her talk show ‘The View’ and I had an opportunity to read an excerpt from her memoir sometime last year in Vanity Fair (the one with Bobby Kennedy’s picture on the cover) and instantly I got a gripped on it. What really made me connected to her story was about being seen as this perfect...

Back to the Center of the Universe

...also known as Taiping. Last weekend, I had to head up north to attend a wedding reception on my parents' behalf while they are still in Mecca performing umrah. Then I thought, why not I drag my hommie along so he could see (and taste) the marvelous-ness of a small town called Taiping. Armed with bag-load of tid bits and my serviced Kiki the Kancil (thanks, sis!) off we went back to my dearly beloved town. Boy, I have things all planned out for both of us - mainly has got to do with various eating places and delish food. Day 1 - Friday The journey back to Taiping is approximately 250km, so I better have some good company and amusing activities while driving back. Glad to say with Ayi around, I got both. We stopped for lunch in KFC Sungai Buloh R&R, fuel in Rawang, fruits in Tapah and finally in m brother's place in Ipoh before heading directly to Taiping. Somewhere along the highway That night, my mission of introducing him to the vast variety of delish food in Taiping ki...

A Really, Really Late Birthday Gift

My one and only stranger, Mr Nik Ahmad bought this exquisite pair of True Religion Brand Jeans from Saks Fifth Avenue in New York earlier this year as a present for my birthday while he was there. Since I was so tied up with studies, exams and lots of me-time and he was barely here globetrotting as an air steward, we only managed to catch up few days ago in Bukit Bintang. To be honest, I've completely forgotten that he had bought me birthday present and had no clue he would bring it when we had our rendezvous in Pavilion. Correct me if I'm wrong but as a follower of True Religion (thanks to my hommie, Abg Ayi), this pair - named 'Billy' - is not available in Bread & Butter (the store carrying the line) both in Pavilion and Gardens Mid Valley. Roughly, this pair would be somewhere around RM1000 - RM1200 per pair. Thanks, my Stranger. Now (at last!), not only I have True Religion jeans, but the one bought in Saks Fifth Avenue. Times like this remind me how fortunate I...
